CRITIC’S CORNER–student book reviews

Cherry Valley Elementary Students are encouraged to write book reviews, using the following rating chart.

 book5BEST BOOK EVER!!!
book4Read this book because you’ll like it
 book3Pretty good book
 book2It’s not my favorite book
Dbookon’t waste your time reading this book

Reviews should contain not only a short summary of the book, but examples of why you liked or didn’t like the book. For example, instead of saying “This is the best book ever!” say ” This was one of the best books I’ve ever read because the characters were so real. When I read this book, I forgot everything else going on around me.” Another example of a reason you don’t like a book might be. “This book wasn’t very interesting. I didn’t think that the kids really would act like that. They were acting more like grown-ups.” Or you might write, “This book was too hard for me to read. I think it would be better for someone in middle school.”
